product too heavy to use for pasta, etc. the pan is too heavy so after you put in water it is almost impossible to lift off the stove because it is weighted all wrong. also the company thru amazon that I bought it from was terrible so I was not able to return it since they never sent me the information for returning it. terrible purchase.

After years of skimping on cookware, I decided it was time for an upgrade. I did my research and chose to replace my worn and tired pots and pans with All Clad. I like to purchase pots and pans "open stock" so I don't get pots I don't use. The 3.5 Qt pot is a workhorse in my kitchen. I use it everyday. It heats evenly, and the handle stays cool. It's not only functional and durable, it's beautiful as well. It cleans up easily with Bar Keepers Friend. I highly recommend All Clad cookware.

We were really impressed with the things we read about All-Clad but now that we've purchased three expensive pieces we are disappointed. Why do I keep saying "we" when I'm the only one who cooks?? Anyway, the pots are too heavy, the handles are hard to use due to being so long and thin and offer little help whie trying to fill the heavy pot with water. Also, so many recipes call for non-stick surfaces that I'm leary of using the fry pan for frying!! My thick old Purdential set of pots is about fifty years old and all but one pot are still in great shape.

Since I am on a low-carb diet I have used this pan for omelets just about every day for months and months. It provides a beautiful sliding surface with just a quick spray of PAM. I am ordering a replacement because I unintentionally left the pan on low heat for about 45 minutes and now its not quite as good. I don't think you can expect any non-stick pan to stand up to that kind of abuse. I use my three Swiss Diamond pans all the time and love them.

We got a gift certificate to a kitchen specialty store for our wedding, so we put it to use getting one of the 11" frying pans.

In the morning I made a 5-egg omelette with onion, peppers, tomato and spinach. The egg cooked through without browning too much, and I didn't have to do to much in the way of lifting the edge of the egg and running the uncooked egg underneath before it was mostly cooked.

In the evening, I used it to thicken my feijoada (Brazilian black bean stew), sauteeing bacon, garlic & onion, then adding 2 ladlefuls of beans cooked soft, mashing down and refrying the beans until they were nice and thick before adding it back to the stew.

As far as nonstick goes, this pan is no nonstick that even water doesn't want to get it wet.

The pan got up to heat fairly quickly. In fact I'll have to use lower heat than I did with the other nonstick skillets I've had in the past with the disk bonded to the bottoms. Cleanup was ridiculously easy: hold the pan under the water coming out of the faucet, and all the food particles wash away .. I used soap and a medium bristled brush just to get any remaining oil off the pan.

So far so good, works a treat. Time will tell if this pan gets coated like every other nonstick pan I've ever had, but I am heartened by hearing the saleslady at the kitchen store tell me she's had one of these pans for five years, and it still works as well as the day she got it.

First of all I'd like to say that I've only used it for 2 weeks so I'm not sure if it'll be all scratched up after 1 year as some of the reviewer said. So far we like it. We use it to make taco meat and warm up taco as well, it's been great.

I thought I wanted an Excalibur but I couldn't afford one and I came across this dehydrator. After alot of thought I went ahead and got it, and it works great! My food dries evenly and easily, I can't imagine that the excalibur does anything better. It is easy to load and has lots of surface space.

Also the service is top notch! One of my trays was cracked when I recieved it and they sent me out 2 new trays right away, free of charge and with just one email. I highly recommend this deydrator if you are serious about dehydrating and want to save some money at the same time!

I did a lot of research before purchasing this machine and I liked what I saw in the reviews. I had an old WestBend that died.

I am amazed at how much these machines have changed. For my first loaf I followed the super rapid setting. It was so easy and the bread came out perfect in less than 2 hours. It tasted just like the bread I used to make from scratch and the crust was perfect.

I would have given it a 5, but I agree with other reviewers that the manual sucks. I did go on line and found some forums that had very good suggestions and recipes that I will try next. Now if it just holds up!!! :)

We bought this bread maker for my mom who has really been wanting one. She loves it! She's never used one before and was very surprised with how easy it is! The machine is very quiet and extremely easy to clean. Definitely run it once to burn off the smelly stuff from manufacturing though, the first loaf was gross!

After a friend received a thyroid cancer diagnosis and was put on a restrictive low-iodine diet, she wasn't allowed to eat commercially baked bread. I ordered this machine in order to bake fresh bread for her. I couldn't be more pleased. The very first loaf using a Thyca.org recipe turned out incredible. As she put it, "I'd have paid $1,000 for that slice of bread". It really helped her get through the diet and on to her treatment in record time. I've since made other loaves of bread, all turning out wonderfully fresh and perfect. I just put in the ingredients, set it according to the directions, then come back a few hours later to warm, delicious bread. I would highly recommend this machine.

Not your mother's pressure cooker!
I grew up using a Mirro pressure cooker, but when I decided to buy one I wanted a small, non-aluminum one, so swallowed hard and plunked down the bucks for this Cadillac model. What a fine item! I've made fresh green beans (under pressure for 2 minutes!) and cook chicken breasts for chicken salad (10 minutes!), usually don't even need to have the heat on once the top is sealed. I know that it won't be paying for itself with energy savings, but I still feel better not heating up the kitchen so much, and using a steel cooker rather than aluminum. The pressure level lines on the top are very easy to read, and the instruction books have a good variety of recipes and ideas. Replacement parts will be more expensive than for cheaper models, but I consider that the price of using such a fine piece of equipment.

I have two of these pressure cookers, the 2.5 L frying pan and a 6L pot and I use these routinely, especially the frying pan.

When I get home from work, I can fry chicken in about 10 minutes from the time it hits the grease.

I 'steam' potatoes (peeled and quartered) for 5-10 minutes, then use the cooked potatoes for mashed potatoes. Since they have never been immersed in water, they have the absolute maximum of flavor and nutrients. Everybody raves about these mashed potatoes, especially if they are made with something like Klondike potatoes. It just about as fast using the pressure cooker as it is to make instant mashed potatoes in the microwave.

I cook pot roast, chicken cacciatorre, stews, soups and especially bean dishes and brown rice. I turn the heat up to high until the second ring is exposed and then turn the burner down to the absolute minimum. It really does save a considerable about of energy and time. If you have a family of 4, get the 2.5 L frying pan. You'll never regret it.

Every year we have a family gathering around Christmas to make "capaletti" (tortalini in brodo) for Christmas dinner for the last 20 years or so...using the Pastamatic 700 every year with great success. It is our great joy to see our children and then our grandchildren learn how to fold and stuff the pasta and even greater joy to have all of us enjoy them at Christmas dinner. However, one problem we have is that the "rotary housing" of the machine that holds the "rotary screw" is almost impossible to remove after making the pasta. Does anyone have a way to get this housing out of the machine for cleaning? We are at a loss. Thanks

I bought this a few months back and must say for a novice pasta maker it is wonderful!! I found the best pasta was using semolina with egg. My family loves the taste of the fresh pasta. It does take a bit of getting used to in terms of texture.......I suggest making the dough a bit more wet than the instructions say otherwise it comes out a bit dry. The cleanup is simple....I sit it out overnight and tap out the dry dough in the morning and then wash. Simple to use, great pasta is the outcome, simple cleanup. I highly recommend this.

My husband and I chose this china pattern for our wedding registry and think the pattern is absolutely gorgeous. However, I have had unsuccessful attempts to order this product through Amazon. I originally ordered 4 place settings and when they arrived two were broken due to the poor packaging. Amazon's customer service was quick to replace them but believe it or not, I received 2 place settings today -- one of which was the incorrect pattern and broken as well. Amazon refunded my money but I guess it was a lesson learned. I orignially registered for this pattern through Macy's and every place setting I received through them have been perfect - nothing broken. It's unfortunate Amazon couldn't do the same. The price is very reasonable but as their customer service rep said today, they cannot keep sending the same product and risking breakage. On a side note, I don't believe it was the shipping that resulted in the damage. The boxes of china were placed loosely in the shipping box with the minimal sheets of bubble wrap. Macy's shipped theirs in much larger boxes with the peanuts and they were much more secure. Maybe Amazon will review how they package their items for shipping and provide a better product to the next person. I, however, will not order from Amazon again. Two times is enough.

This grinder is a little beast. I've fought with a little Oster grinder for years and spent many an evening repeatedly cursing and cleaning the blades of gristle. This unit is simply what it says it is, and it works. Make sure you get it tightened down well as with any grinder and it'll grind through anything you can fit down the tube, which is appropriately sized smallish so you can't possibly over load it, good design fail safe! Make no mistake though you cut anything up into 1 inch strips and it will suck them through and spit them out faster than any home owner grinder I've seen!
It is an extremely heavily built unit, make no mistake, everything is heavy solid stainless (except one plastic wear bushing that they provide a spare for). The loading tube and auger assembly probably weigh 5ish lbs so you know you aren't going to hurt anything.
I primarily go through six Sitka Black Tail deer a year as a subsistence meat hunter and this unit fulfills the grinding I need to do without any issue. Hoping this fall I'll be able to get one of the brown bears that's been bugging me the past few months and see if I can make some strong sausage out of him which will be a serious test of this unit!
Great unit if you want the smallest commercial grade grinder on the market.

We have been looking at grinders with the thought of making homemade sausages for a while. When we got our tax return this year we decided to go for it. I decided to go look at grinders at Bass Pro Shop with the intention of buying a manual hand cranked grinder. Someone else was in the same section looking at some sausage making things and we got to talking. He said that he had this grinder and it has worked very well for them. I had thought perhaps if we got an electric grinder we might go for a bigger one, but he said this should be enough for what we want to do. So I purchased it. We have made bratwurst, italian sausages, and breakfast links so far, but made each of those a few times as they are our favorites. We couldn't be happier with the grinder, it cleans up pretty easy and after I clean and dry it I spray some food grade silicone spray to protect the parts. My wife and I usually do it together, one person feeding the meat into the grinder and the other controling the sausage/casing part. I've used it alone and though a little more difficult, I was able to do it all myself and probably with a little practice it would be just as easy, maybe just a little more time consuming. I recommend this grinder though I haven't tried any others, I've hear that LEM has good customer service, though haven't needed them, and the grinder seems very solid (the whole reason we decided to skip the kitchenaid attachment).

The product works great and as described. However the vendor said it was in stock when i ordered when in fact it wasn't. It took two weeks for me to get it. I ordered it for use before a large picnic but wasn't able to due to inaccurate inventory information. So lesson learned is you can't always believe it when it says the item is in stock.

We have been using this unit for about 2 weeks now and it is great. the 208 degree setting is actually the perfect temp for making press coffee. Instant hot water is great also for warming baby bottles, making tea, hot chocolate, etc. We have done them all. I would recommend to any who buy, to continuously wipe the unit out if you have calcium in your water.

I love this machine, but it does not get the water hot enough for my black teas to properly steep. While the water does boil, the temperature decreases before dispensing, thus, it is not boiling when dispensed.

While this may not be a problem for many people, I simply must have boiling water to properly steep my black teas.

I tried it several times, even increasing the amount of tea to compensate for the lower temperature, all to no avail.

This is not to say that the machine won't work wonderfully for others, it simply did not work at all for my needs. It's possible that my unit was defective in some way, as it did arrive with the filter already in place & slightly bent.)

I will be returning this item, much to my disappointment.

I bought this 3-quart All-Clad stainless-steel casserole specifically for use as a rice cooker. For me, it has been an excellent rice cooker. I prepare three quarts of rice each time, once each week, using a 1-to-3 ratio of medium-grain brown rice and medium-grain white rice. I have followed this routine for six years, and every batch of rice was perfect. Cleaning the sticky rice residue from the casserole requires the use of hot water and a fair amount of scrubbing, with detergent and a stiff-bristled brush. After six years of use, this casserole still looks as pristine as it did when I received it.

I also used this casserole for making soup, a couple of times. Once, I used it for cooking dried beans. After seeing how well these other foods cooked, I expect to cook them more often. These are comfort foods, and they are generally inexpensive (and quite appropriate for the current national economic downturn).

From a purely economic perspective, the current price of this casserole might be difficult to justify. On the one hand, it is possible to purchase a rice cooker for less than half of the price of this casserole. On the other hand, this casserole offers greater cooking versatility than a rice cooker. Another plus, is that its magnetic-steel exterior layer makes it suitable for cooking directly on induction burners (likely the preferred cooking heat source, for the next several decades).

Here is a final note. Despite All-Clad's claims to the contrary, the two loop handles and the lid's handle will become very warm (hot), after 32 minutes of cooking rice. Before moving the heated casserole or its lid, always use pot holders or test the heat of the handles with a quick finger touch (ouch!).

That was one of the major reasons I decided to splurge and pay for All-Clad. We've had this Aquasana system for about three years now so I think I'm well acquainted with it. First, for anyone with a modicum of handiness and some basic tools the installation is fairly easy. The filter itself works very well. Water tastes great and the flow rate (at least initially) is quite good. You can probably fill a quart container in 45 seconds. However, as the filters get dirty the flow rate begins to decrease. After six months it's probably down to less than half the original flow rate. If this covered everything I'd give it 5 stars.

Where it loses a half star is the quality of the construction of the filter housing. Everything is plastic and with each filter change, something seems to go. First, the screw-on filter covers have wings protruding which allows you to grasp the covers to open and close them. These covers can require a lot of force to open and first one wing would break off and then the other.

When the wings are gone or perhaps even before you can use a socket wrench to remove the covers. Again, because they are plastic, I stripped one of them trying to remove it with a socket.

They do have a "Water for Life" program which entails them shipping out a new set of filters to you every six months and if you sign up for this they will replace the housing or anything that fails for just the cost of shipping and handling ($9.95 for a new housing recently). Although this is a fairly good deal, it would just be preferable if the housing used heavy duty metal for the fittings that get used in which case you wouldn't need a replacement.

Finally, another half star is removed as the cost of the filters has increased significantly from when I initially purchased the system so in a sense this is like the ink jet printer sales model where they sell you a printer at cost (or less) and make money for years selling you ink. In this case however the initial system is not cheap either so whereas I considered it a very economical system when I bought it, I now consider it decent but if Aquasana continues to raise prices I may have to look elsewhere for filtered water..

filter and was a pain to open up and always hoped it wouldn't leak so when it broke we were done and decided to try something different. This is when

Staub 1102025 Review by Marvin Taylor (USA)

I was going to get the Le Creuset...but then discovered that it was more expensive and you had to buy the heat-resistant lid handle separately. So, I went with this one. It's great. I love it. I use it almost every day. These pots don't clean up very well, but that's to be expected. They are more forgiving in appearance because of the black internal finish. The pot in green/basil looks gorgeous. I bought this and a larger 6.5 quart pot in matching green. Use medium or low heat as directed. I try not to cover it when making soups because it gets so hot it will most likely boil over. These pots can go from your fridge straight to the stove top (I have a gas stove). Great for soups, roasted meats, and braised vegetables.

I bought the 2.25 qt and it suits me just well. It can serve up to 4 for stew and stuff like that and I think the size is just wonderful. Though the lid may not be as tight (or else I didn't cover it correctly) as you imagine but still pretty good. But generally speaking it's a great item! Not expensive and still very useful and handy.

Excellent small pot for making rice or grits. It is a little small to be useful as a dutch oven but the quality is superb. I have a much larger Staub cocotte that I have used thousands of times to make stews and gumbos and it still looks brand new. I have moved with the pot three times and it has survived being beaten around every time. I would give five stars except the price. The larger pots however are well worth the money and will last a lifetime.
